RECREATIONAL FACILITIES LOCATION MAP

1.  Recreation Complex - (965 Gene Hurley Rd) The Recreation Complex is commonly referred to as the "Sports Complex" or "Gene Hurley Park". The complex is located West of the DeFuniak Springs Municipal Airport on Gene Hurley Rd. Facilities available at the Recreation Complex are as follows:

  • Three large softball fields
  • Skating and roller blade area
  • Full length basketball court & tennis wall
  • Picnic areas with tables
  • Water spray area
  • Restrooms
  • Play area
  • Two large swing sets
  • Chin-up bars
  • Tetherball
  • Olympic size soccer field
  • Over 1 1/2 miles of nature trails for walking, running, bicycle riding , or horse back riding.

2.  Lake Stanley Park (271 Shoemaker Dr) - The Lake Stanley Park is located in the Northwest portion of DeFuniak Springs on Shoemaker Drive. The park consists of an open swimming area, boat ramp, swing sets, slide, eight covered picnic tables, two un-covered picnic tables, restroom facilities, a fishing pier, and several open areas.  The park connects to over 100 acres of open water.

3.  Pat Covell Park #1 (248 Sheldon Ave) - A spacious park located on the west side of DeFuniak Springs on the corner of S 23rd St and Sheldon Ave. Facilities included in this park are:  a swing set, a slide, a picnic table, climbing bars, dirt basketball court, and two volleyball areas. The Little League Baseball Parks are located next to Pat Covell #1 and are not owned by the City of DeFuniak Springs.

4.  Wayside Park -  This park is located at the intersection of US Hwy 90 and US Hwy 331 S.  The park consist of a open area, public bathrooms, and two covered picnic tables. 

5.  Harberson Field - (357 N 9th St) This park is located on N 9th St in front of the DeFuniak Springs Community Center. The park consists of a football/soccer field with concession stand, public restroom facilities, a children's playground with a slide, swings, picnic tables, and cooking grill.

6.  Pat Covell Park #2 (400 Vann Ave) - This park is located in the Northeast part of DeFuniak Springs on Vann Avenue by the Magnolia Cemetery. Items at this park include: a slide, swing set, merry-go-round, picnic table, and dirt basketball court.

7.  Henry Park - (1162 Circle Drive) This park is located north of Chipley Park on Circle Dr.  The Information Center is located within this park and is opened on Saturdays.  This park includes a three tier water fountain, and park bench.  For more information, please contact Dennis Ray at 850-892-2566.

7.  Museum Depot - (1140 Circle Drive) The Museum Depot is located on the North side of Chipley Park. The Museum Depot is under the direction of the Walton County Heritage Association and is known as the Walton County Heritage Museum. The hours of operation are Wednesday through Saturday 11am to 4pm.  For more information, please call 850-951-2127.

7.  The Opinion Place - (801 Baldwin Ave) The Opinion Place is an open gazebo used by the community as a place to sit and visit with one another. The Opinion Place is located at the intersection of S 7th St and Baldwin Ave.

8.  Chipley Park (A.K.A. Lake DeFuniak) - Chipley Park is located in historic downtown DeFuniak Springs on Circle Drive.  The park includes one of the two almost perfectly spring fed round lakes in the world with almost 40 acres of water body.  The park also includes over 40 acres of land area which consists of a children's play area, an amphitheater, walking paths, three gazebos, various picnic tables throughout, two 100 ft lighted fishing piers, public restroom facilities, and a boat ramp.  The children areas include a slide, swings, merry-go-rounds, and a sand box. The sidewalk by the water's edge is 9/10 of a mile. Lake DeFuniak is open to boat fishing with electric motors of one (1) horsepower or less.  Also, located inside the park is an open Amphitheater, which holds many local functions throughout the year.  The State of Florida's oldest operating library, which was built in 1886, is located in this park and is still being used for that purpose today.  The Chautauqua Building (A.K.A. Hall of Brotherhood), built in 1909, holds many different types of public and private functions throughout the year. 

The buildings associated with this park are:  the Amphitheater (1183 Circle Dr); the Chautauqua Building (A.K.A. Hall of Brotherhood) (95 Circle Dr) and the Walton/DeFuniak Library (3 Circle Dr)

9.  Florence Park - This park is located at S 11th St and Clay St.  The park consist of a Geodesic Climber, monkey bars, a swing, a slide, open area, and two buildings to be used for the public.  These buildings were built as recreational facilities for the local Boy and Girl Scouts.

There are two double tennis courts available for use to the public these are located as follows:

Community Center Tennis Courts - This double tennis court is located at the intersection of Government Street & N. 10th Street. This location is just North of the DeFuniak Springs Community Center.

Clay St/Plateau Ave Tennis Courts- (79 Plateau Ave) This double tennis court is located just south of Chipley Park at the intersection of Clay St & Plateau Ave.  The park consists of a merry-go-round, swings, a picnic table, and cooking grill.  An open field and volleyball court are located across the street at 88 Plateau Ave for the public's use.
