Lucky Duck Hunt

Rubber Duck Banner 2018 Final

9am & 11am
Free to Participate

The Lucky Duck Hunt is an official event of LakeFest 2018.  LakeFest is an annual festival in DeFuniak Springs, Florida celebrating sports and exercise on the water.  This event is held in Chipley Park on the banks (and on the water) of Lake DeFuniak, one of the world's rare, naturally round spring-fed lakes, and is orchestrated by the City of DeFuniak Springs in collaboration with many regional nonprofit and government agencies.

The Lucky Duck Hunt is similar to an Easter egg hunt where organizers hide small rubber ducks around the LakeFest festival grounds.  Participating guests look for the rubber ducks and turn them in (one per participant.)  The ducks are numbered.  If the participant's duck number is a winning number, the participant wins a prize!

How to Participate

There are two Lucky Duck Hunts this year at two different times.  One for children in the Kids Zone and the other for young people/adults on Lake DeFuniak in canoes, kayaks or on paddle boards.

  • 9am Kids Zone Lucky Duck Hunt:  Children can check-in at the Kids Zone at the Lucky Duck booth and will receive instructions on what to do.  Children will search for rubber ducks in the Kids Zone only.  Only one rubber duck per child can be turned in.  If the rubber duck is a winning number, the child wins a prize on the spot!
  • 11:00 am On the Water Lucky Duck Hunt:  Young people and adults brining their own canoe, kayak or paddle board can check-in at the boat ramp next to the Chautauqua Hall of Brotherhood, 95 Circle Drive, DeFuniak Springs, FL and will receive instructions on what to do.  Participants will find rubber ducks tethered to plants in Lake DeFuniak.  Only one rubber duck per participant can be turned in.  If the rubber duck is a winning number, the participant wins $50 cash!  Participants will find out if they are a winner at the Public Works tent, located between the amphitheater and waterslides, after 1pm.
