On Monday, May 18, 2015, the City of DeFuniak Springs welcomed Dustin “Dusty” Beck to the Planning Department as the city’s Code Enforcement Officer.
Dusty is the son of Pam and Dennis Beck. He is a native of Walton County, Florida and is a 2004 graduate of Walton High School. Dusty furthered his education by earning an Associate of Arts (AA) degree in General Studies at Northwest Florida State College in 2006 and a Bachelor of Arts (BA) degree in Christian Studies at The Baptist College of Florida in 2008. Dusty has also successfully completed two (2) certifications through the Florida Association of Code Enforcement (FACE) to include “Fundamentals of Code Enforcement” and “Officer Safety and Field Applications”.
Dusty began his career in the field of code enforcement in 2012 with Walton County TDC as a Temporary Beach Code Enforcement Officer. He later accepted a permanent position with Walton County Board of County Commissioners as a Code Enforcement Officer and Scenic Corridor Specialist.
City Manager Sara Bowers said, “The City of DeFuniak Springs is pleased to bring the Dusty on board. His training and experience will complement the Planning Department as the staff works together for the betterment of our great community.
During his spare time, Dusty enjoys spending time with his daughter, Seraphim, and his family. Dusty is active in his church and also enjoys tending to his backyard farm where he has a garden, chickens and rabbits.
