Things to Do

Visit historic DeFuniak Springs, Florida all-year long! Here's why:

Tour our historic District

"What IS this place?"  The number one question we answer when visitors discover incredible, charming, Victorian-era cottages and unusual buildings enveloping a perfectly round spring-fed lake.  Take a self=guided walking tour of our historic district listed on the National Register of Historic Places.  Walk in the footsteps of presidents, first ladies, astronauts, song writers, governors, Hollywood stars, and other historic and notable people by exploring why they came here and what they did.  (Hint: look up the word "Chautauqua.")

Enjoy Chipley Park

Birthplace of Arbor Day in Florida.  You'll see why! An unbelievably beautiful park for birdwatching, butterfly watching, kayaking, canoeing, fishing.  No park or parking fees!  Complimented with beautiful sidewalks meandering through trees and to/around beautiful Lake DeFuniak.  This is the centerpiece of the historic Florida Chautauqua resort/campus opened in 1885 for family learning and recreational activities.  This park is on the Florida Birding Trail and the Rosalynn Carter Butterfly Trail.  Bring binoculars to see how many birds you can identify.
