Welcome to the City of DeFuniak Springs!  We are known as a historic community as our historic district is comprised mostly of a once-gated campus/resort opened in 1885 for the annual Florida Chautauqua Assemblies which lasted until 1927.  We are also a great destination for fishing and kayaking/canoeing/paddle boarding due to our beautiful lakes and nearby springs.  Here's some things to see and do while you are in our historic community:

  1. Walk Circle Drive and see the historic homes and buildings which made up the original Florida Chautauqua campus/resort grounds (GPS 3 Circle Drive, DeFuniak Springs, Florida  32435).  See trees planted by famous people like Apollo 13 Astronaut Fred Haise, Former First Lady Rosalynn Carter, and Actor Jerry Mathers of Leave It To Beaver;
  2. Visit the county's heritage museum in our historic train depot at 1140 Circle Drive, DeFuniak Springs, Florida  32435.
  3. Shop our Historic Downtown Business District and dine at our fine dining restaurants;
  4. Put your kayak, canoe or paddle board in our beautiful round spring-fed Lake DeFuniak (GPS 95 Circle Drive, DeFuniak Springs, Florida  32435)
