DeFuniak Springs Police responded to Corner Café this morning in reference to a burglary that happened overnight. The business had been open for a short while when the owner discovered the night deposit bag missing. A check of surveillance footage revealed that a subject had entered the premises with a key and went directly to where the deposit bag was hidden. The suspect can be observed on video putting socks on his hands before using a key to unlock the back door to the restaurant. The suspect then enters the kitchen area and makes his way over to where the deposit bag was left. The suspect exits the restaurant with the bag containing an undisclosed amount of money and locks the door behind him. The crime was not immediately discovered because there were no signs of forced entry. The suspect (see photos) is described as a middle aged white male with a short beard. He was wearing a camouflage hat with a Chevrolet emblem on the front. Due to the manner in which the burglary was carried out, it is believed the suspect had insider knowledge of the operations of the restaurant. Anyone with information regarding this incident is requested to contact Detective White at 892-8513. Callers may also remain anonymous by calling the TIPS line at 910-8477(TIPS).
