A 64 year old DeFuniak Springs man was arrested Saturday night after he side swiped a vehicle and then left the scene. Lee Anthony Ingram was traveling north in his 2007 Chevrolet Pickup on S.R. 83 N. when he drifted into the south bound lane, sideswiping a 1999 GMC SUV. Ingram continued north through the busy intersection of the Walton County Fairgrounds. A DeFuniak Springs Police Officer, who was directing traffic, spotted the vehicle with substantial damage and radioed dispatch. An alert was sent out and a Walton County Sheriff’s Deputy stopped the vehicle near Caring and Sharing on S.R. 83 N. Ingram was found to be operating the vehicle and appeared to be under the influence of alcohol. An open container of alcohol was also located inside the truck. DeFuniak Springs Police investigated the crash that led to Ingram being arrested for Driving Under the Influence Causing a Traffic Crash, Leaving the Scene of a Traffic Crash with Injuries, and several traffic infractions. Ingram was transported to the Walton County Jail where he provided a breath sample of .15 on the Intoxilyzer (almost twice the legal per se limit of .08). 29 year old Natosha Price of DeFuniak Springs, a front seat passenger in the SUV, and was injured during the crash. She was transported to Healthmark Regional Medical Center where she was later released. The driver of the SUV, 30 year old Richard Price of DeFuniak Springs, suffered minor injuries during the crash, but was not transported. Four children were also in the SUV, but were fortunately not injured.
