Although the impending tropical storm is predicted to strike to our east, the potential for rain and wind exists. “We don’t anticipate severe weather, but there may be some downed trees, limbs, and other debris that we want our citizens to be aware of,” said Chief Mark Weeks. Standard precautions should be used in traveling as well as making sure you have potable water, non-perishable food, and vehicles are fueled up in case of an emergency. The DeFuniak Springs City Hall and Public Works will be closing at 3 PM today so that those personnel can ready their families. Police and Fire Departments will be functioning as normal and at a ready state should the need for additional personnel be required. If you need assistance please call 911 for emergencies of 892-8511 for DeFuniak Springs Police. The DeFuniak Springs Fire Department can be reached at 892-8515.
