On Sunday, October 2nd, DeFuniak Springs Police responded to the U.S. Post Office in reference to a 911 call from a man advising that he was depressed and had taken over 200 tablets of acetaminophen (Tylenol). Officers called for Walton Fire Rescue, who transported him to a medical facility. Officers discovered that the man’s vehicle appeared to contain evidence linking him to the murder of Latasha Prim. Subsequent investigations by Detectives and Investigators resulted in additional evidence linking the man to the crime. The items of evidence are currently being processed by the FDLE Crime Lab for DNA. On Tuesday, October 12th, the person of interest in this case died as a result of the overdose of acetaminophen while at a medical facility. Detectives and Investigators have identified the victim that was found with a laceration on Saturday. 30 year old Latasha Nicole Prim of Pensacola was positively identified and her family was notified Tuesday evening. A person of interest has been identified and leads are being pursued to tie the person of interest to the crime. Additional information will be released as the investigation continues. ORIGINAL: WOMAN’S BODY FOUND BEHIND CHURCH
DeFuniak Springs Police, DeFuniak Springs Fire, and Walton Fire Rescue responded to Mt. Nebo Baptist Church at approximately 1:10 p.m. Saturday in reference to a deceased female. A church member spotted the body near a picnic table in the back yard of the church. Detectives and Officers responded and began investigating. The female was lying in a pool of blood with blood on her hands and clothing. Walton County Sheriff's Office, Florida Department of Law Enforcement, State Attorney's Office, and the Medical Examiner's Office responded to assist in the investigation.
