DeFuniak Springs Police responded to assist State Probation Officers at 788 West Orange Avenue, who were checking up on their probationer. Probation Officers advised that 21 year old Joshua Michael Mackenzie had violated probation and had voluntarily told them that he was in possession of illegal narcotics. Police Officers were given voluntary consent to search the room he was staying in. Several items of drug paraphernalia including needles, a spoon, and what appeared to be methamphetamine were observed in Mackenzie’s bedroom. While searching the bedroom, the lessee of the residence arrived and requested that the search cease. Officers cleared the residence of all occupants and secured it until a search warrant was obtained. The residence was searched and additional items of drug paraphernalia, pills, and methamphetamine were located. 33 year old Amber Shea Adkinson and Mackenzie were placed under arrest for Possession of Controlled Substances without a Prescription and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. Both were transported and booked into the Walton County Jail. “I commend my Officers for being vigilant in fighting drug abuse in our neighborhoods,” said Chief Mark Weeks.
