[ARCHIVED] SCHOOL BUS INVOLVED IN CRASH THURSDAY AFTERNOON

DeFuniak Springs Police responded to a traffic crash near Taco Bell on U.S. Highway 331 South at approximately 4:30 p.m. Thursday.  33 year old Heather Nicole Burgans, of Laurel Hill, had crossed over into the central turn area after leaving Sonic.  She believed the inside north bound lane of 331 to be clear when she pulled into the side of a Rocky Bayou Christian School Bus, causing significant damage to her 2005 Chevrolet Trailblazer.  The school bus, driven by 32 year old Stephanie Joan Shaw, of DeFuniak Springs, was occupied with 3 students at the time of the crash and sustained side impact damage.  Burgans was found to be at fault in the crash and was issued a traffic citation for Failure to Yield Right of Way.  No injuries were reported.
