[ARCHIVED] 331 SOUTHBOUND LANES CLOSED DUE TO LUMBER SPILL

DeFuniak Springs Police responded to 331 South in front of WalMart Thursday in reference to a load of lumber that had fallen off of a semi-tractor trailer.  Hundreds of boards fell off the trailer as the sem-tractor trailer slammed on brakes to miss a vehicle pulling out of a parking lot around 3:20 p.m.  Both southbound lanes of U.S. Highway 331 South were blocked from Bob Sikes Road to just south of Murphy Express for approximately one hour as the lumber was moved off of the roadway.  As of this release, all lanes have been opened back up for normal traffic flow.  DeFuniak Springs Fire Department responded to assist with traffic control.  The Florida Highway Patrol Commercial Motor Vehicles Division was requested to evaluate the semi-tractor trailer and driver.  No injuries were reported.
