Detectives with the DeFuniak Springs Police Department traveled to Orlando on Tuesday to deliver a trailer full of surplus items for final delivery to Puerto Rico “With the recent devastation that Puerto Rico has faced, I wanted to team up with Orlando Police Department, who volunteered to ship the items, in order to aid their law enforcement agencies. We had numerous items that we could no longer use and that would obtain a minimal return if sold. To an agency in need, the equipment is invaluable,” said Chief Mark Weeks. Upon arrival at Orlando P.D., Detectives were met by Orlando personnel who assisted in unloading the surplus items. Once all the items are collected from various other agencies, Orlando P.D. will ship them in a cargo container to Puerto Rico.
