City Marshal/Police

Posted on: April 3, 2019

Law enforcement is not just about helping people, but sometimes we even get to help those that cannot speak – namely horses. DeFuniak Springs Police Officers were recently called to N. 1st Street in reference to three horses running loose. “Kids were having a good time trying to catch up with the horses,” said Chief Weeks. The main concern was preventing the horses from getting hit or causing an accident when they veered onto State Road 83. Officers were able to coral them into an area using “horse whisperer” techniques which really do seem to work. Walton County Animal Control soon arrived and was able to locate the owners who live in the area. Fortunately, the horses were not injured and our Officers were able to “horse” around a little bit!
