DeFuniak Springs Police responded to a residence late Wednesday morning in reference to 4 children who were left home alone without enough food. Officers and Detectives found a 16 year old who was taking care of two 11 year olds and a 5 year old while the mother was reportedly visiting her boyfriend in Niceville. The mother returned to the residence while Officers and Department of Children and Families personnel were still on scene. 36 year old Cassandra Goldsmith admitted to leaving her kids at the residence without adequate food. Goldsmith was arrested and booked into the Walton County Jail on charges of Child Neglect.
