DeFuniak Springs Police obtained an arrest warrant Wednesday morning for 19 year old Tatyanna Antionette Wells of DeFuniak Springs, for Child Neglect. According to witnesses, Wells was given the infant to take care of while the Mother of the child engaged in the altercation. Wells also became engaged in fighting while holding the infant, which led to the two month old being struck. Wells was arrested and taken to the Walton County Jail where she is currently awaiting first appearance. The investigation continues. The infant is expected to be o.k.
ORIGINAL: TWO MONTH OLD INFANT INJURED DURING FIGHT
DeFuniak Springs Police responded to a local apartment complex Monday night in reference to a disturbance. Officers arrived to find a 2 month old infant with head injuries sustained from adults who had been in an altercation. Due to the nature of the infant’s injuries, Walton County Fire Rescue arranged for an airlift to Sacred Heart Hospital in Pensacola. Detectives, Deputies with the Walton County Sheriff’s Office, and State Attorney’s Office personnel responded to assist in the investigation.
