Garbage Pickup Schedule May Be Inconsistent for Weeks

Two roll-out garbage containers with wording on top of image saying Leave Out Until Emptied

DeFuniak Springs customers of garbage pickup service may not have their garbage containers emptied on their regular pickup days for several weeks due to the City’s garbage truck being temporarily out of service.  However, the City’s public works department will still provide pickup service with other trucks during this time but advise customers to leave their containers by the road until they see the container has been emptied.

“We regret the inconvenience this may cause for all of our garbage pickup service customers,” says City Manager Mell Smigielski.  “We ask the public for patience until we can get the City garbage truck repaired,” he says.

Businesses will continue to get their dumpsters emptied on schedule since other trucks are used.  However, any customer using the City’s plastic roll-out garbage bins (businesses or residence) may experience a delay in pickup service from their regular pickup day.  For further details, call the public works department at (850) 892-8534.
