City Invites Contractor Bids on Chautauqua Hall of Brotherhood

The City of DeFuniak Springs will accept bids from licensed Florida Contractors with experience and expertise in Commercial Renovation and Historic Restoration and with the ability to substantially complete the project by June 28, 2021.  The selected contractor will be responsible for completion of the interior trim out and finishing of the existing stairs, walls, ceilings, and floors at the North and South exit stairs.  Additionally, the contractors shall replace or repair the historic wood stair railings. The selected contractor will be responsible for providing all supervision, equipment, and labor required to complete the job. The contractor may utilize the materials provided and stored on-site for the execution of the work, however, additional materials, if needed for satisfactory completion of the work, shall be the contractors’ responsibility. The contractor must determine that the material provided and stored on-site are sufficient in quantity and quality to complete the work required by attending the mandatory pre-bid/walkthrough meeting.  Additional detailed requirements are contained in the bid scope documents.

Bids will be received until 2:00 PM (CT) on April 22, 2021 at the City of DeFuniak Springs, City Hall, 71 US Highway 90 West, DeFuniak Springs, FL 32433, and will be opened and publicly read immediately thereafter.  All Bids shall be submitted in a sealed envelope clearly marked: 

“SEALED BID: CITY OF DEFUNIAK SPRINGS – CHAUTAUQUA HALL OF BROTHERHOOD STAIRWAY COMPLETION”

A bid bond in the amount of 5% of the bid shall accompany the bid.  The City of DeFuniak Springs (City) reserves the right to reject any and all bids, waive any formalities, and award in the best interest of the City of DeFuniak Springs.  All bids shall be firm for a period of 30 days after opening.  This includes material prices. The bid must conform to Section 287.133(3) Florida Statutes, on public entity crimes.

There will be a MANDATORY PRE-BID/WALKTHROUGH meeting on April 12, 2021 at  9:00 AM (CT) at the Chautauqua Hall of Brotherhood, 95 Circle Drive, DeFuniak Springs, FL 32435.  The City WILL NOT ACCEPT bids from bidders who did not attend the mandatory pre-bid/walkthrough.

All bidders shall comply with all applicable state and local laws concerning licensing, registration, and regulations of contractors doing business in Florida.  The City shall award the contract to the lowest responsive and responsible bidder; provided however, the City reserves the right to award the contract to a bidder who is not the lowest responsive and responsible bidder if the City determines in its reasonable discretion that another bid offers the City a better value based upon the reliability, quality of service, or product of such other bidder.  The City of DeFuniak Springs is an Equal Opportunity/Affirmative Action/ADA Employer and a Drug Free Workplace.
