[ARCHIVED] DEFUNIAK SPRINGS POLICE RESPONDED TO A CRASH, “VEHICLE VERSUS BICYCLE”

On July 26th, 2011, Officers from the DeFuniak Springs Police responded to a crash in the area of U.S. Highway 331 and the intersection of Live Oak Avenue. This Intersection is equipped with crosswalk markings as well as pedestrian crosswalk lighting.

It was reported that the crosswalk lighting was properly working and displayed the indication for the bicyclist not to enter the intersection during the time of the crash.

The investigation proved that the bicyclist entered the intersection on his bicycle and struck the vehicle causing minor damage to the vehicle and the bicycle sustained damage to its front wheel.

“The investigation is still ongoing; however it is likely that the bicyclist will be found at fault for the crash. There will be no citations issued”, said Lieutenant Richard Black

The youngster suffered scrapes and bruises and was transported to Healthmark Regional Medical Center for precautionary reasons only.
