Proclamation for Heroes Awareness Week 2021Mayor Bob Campbell signed and presented the following proclamation on October 11, 2021 during a city council meeting held at the Walton County Courthouse Commission Chambers.  Below is the text of the document.  Click here to download the Proclamation (PDF.)

WHEREAS, National First Responders Day is October 28, 2021, and National Veterans Day is November 11, 2021; and

 WHEREAS, from police officers and firefighters to emergency medical services and search-and-rescue personnel, and others in the public-safety sector come together as First Responders to aid their fellow citizens in the event of an emergency; and

 WHEREAS, first responders in DeFuniak Springs provide an invaluable public service by performing their duties without a second thought or personal regard, twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week; and

 WHEREAS, now is a fitting opportunity to express appreciation and to recognize that our health, safety, and well-being are often dependent on the commitment and steadfast devotion of our First Responders; and

 WHEREAS, the greatest acknowledgement of our freedom is to honor our Armed Forces Veterans who have sacrificed, and in some instances paid the ultimate price for our freedom; and

 WHEREAS, we, along with millions of other Americans, can attest to the importance of their sacrifices and contributions for our freedom and security; and

 WHEREAS, both men and women of our Armed Forces continue to be an inspiration to all of us through their demonstration of courage, leadership, and commitment in service to our community and country; and

 NOW, THEREFORE, I, Bob Campbell, by virtue of the authority vested in me as Mayor of the City of DeFuniak Springs, Florida, do herby proclaim and recognize the weeks of October 28 – November 11, 2021, as

HEROES AWARENESS WEEKS

In the City of DeFuniak Springs and I ask all citizens and civic organizations to acquaint themselves with the personal sacrifices made by our First Responders and Veterans and to recognize their contribution, dedication, and commitment to our public safety and freedom.

IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand and caused the official Seal of the City of DeFuniak Springs to be affixed this 11th day of October in the year of our Lord two thousand twenty-one.
