On July 30th, 2012 officers from the DeFuniak Springs Police responded to an overturned vehicle crash with entrapment. The location of this crash was in the area of the eastbound onramp and Interstate 10 also known as (S.R. 8) or (I-10).
When officers arrived on scene all parties were found outside of the overturned vehicle. Further investigation revealed that the 2005 Dodge Durango was traveling east on I-10 in the inside lane and attempted to change lanes and subsequently hydroplaned. The driver lost control of the Durango and crashed into the safety barrier (guardrail). The vehicle then overturned landing on its side.
The driver who was later identified as Eric Verron Bush was transported to Sacred Heart Hospital of Pensacola for incapacitating injuries; however they were believed to be non-life threatening. The other passengers Andria Bush (wife) and their two children were transported to North Okaloosa Medical Center for what was believed to be non-life threatening injuries as well.
The eastbound onramp from U.S. Highway 331 and the outside eastbound lane was shut down for a short period of time while the scene was cleared.
