[ARCHIVED] LOCAL CONTRACTOR ARRESTED ON GRAND THEFT AND FRAUD CHARGES

John Quitman Clenney (DBA -John’s Home Improvement) of DeFuniak Springs was arrested today and charged with Felony Grand Theft and Organized Fraud in conjunction with an on-going criminal investigation lead by the DeFuniak Springs Police, Criminal Investigations Division and Lowes Loss Prevention Investigators.
During the months of October 2010 and November 2010, John Quitman Clenney and Christopher Michael Weaver of DeFuniak Springs (a now ex-Lowes Employee, arrested on November 10th 2010) conspired to commit organized retail theft and fraud, by stealing merchandise from the Lowes Store in DeFuniak Springs, Florida.
Lowes Loss Prevention Specialists initiated an investigation after noticing a large shortage of merchandise and then notified the DeFuniak Springs Police of their findings. Over the next several weeks, additional evidence documenting multiple thefts and fraud was obtained by law enforcement. Clenney was arrested this morning after DeFuniak Springs Police Investigators conducted a traffic stop on his vehicle on U.S. Highway 90 West, near Highway 331 North.
Clenney was booked into the Walton County Jail where he awaits first appearance. Weaver was arrested on November 10th and was charged with Felony Grand Theft and was also booked into the Walton County Jail at the time of his arrest.
This investigation is on-going and additional charges and arrests are pending.
