On November 29th, 2010 at 5:24 PM Officers from the DeFuniak Springs Police responded to a traffic crash with injuries on U.S. Highway 331 North. Investigation on scene revealed that Devan Aaron Reeves of DeFuniak Springs was operating a 1993 Mazda with Stormey Reneigh Elkins as a passenger located in the right front. They were traveling south on U. S. Highway 331 north of Aero Drive when Reeves fell / leaned over into the front passenger section for undetermined reasons. The 1993 Mazda then entered into the north bound lane of travel. Mark Allen Olwick also of DeFuniak Springs was operating a 1998 Honda and was north bound approaching this same location. This is when he observed the Mazada enter into his lane of travel, at which time he steered to the shoulder of the north travel lane attempting to avoid a collision; however the Mazda traveled onto the shoulder as well causing the crash. Reeves was transported to Healthmark Regional Medical Center by Walton County EMS then later transported to Sacred Heart Medical Center in Pensacola Florida, where he is listed in critical condition. Investigation is ongoing.
