Members from the DeFuniak Springs Police participated in the Law Enforcement Liaison Program “Click it or Ticket Campaign”. The dates during this wave were May 20, 2013 thru June 2, 2013.
This is a state wide campaign that has several waves during the year. During these waves the officers record their data pertaining to safety belt violations and other traffic offenses. The results then are provided to the State of Florida Department of Transportation to help make our streets safer.
During this wave the DeFuniak Springs Police issued a total of ninety-nine (99) citations. Sixty-five (65) safety belt, thirty-one (31) speeding, two (2) driving while license suspended/revoked, and one (1) following too closely violations were reported. In addition to these violations, there were nine (9) arrests made.
“The safety of our citizens as well as our visitors is very important to us here at the DeFuniak Springs Police” said Chief Mark A. Weeks.
