[ARCHIVED] DeFuniak Springs Police Investigate Kidnapping and Rape

Officers with the DeFuniak Springs Police responded to a kidnapping and sexual assault at approximately 4 AM this morning. The victim called 911 and stated that she had been sexually assaulted by a man with a gun. She further advised dispatchers that the man was chasing her near the railroad tracks. Paramedics and Officers could not initially obtain information due to the victim being traumatized. She was transported by Walton Fire Rescue to Healthmark Regional Medical Center for treatment.

While the victim was at the hospital, investigators obtained information that she had met the suspect in a night club in Ft. Walton Beach. She and the suspect reportedly left the nightclub voluntarily so that she could take him to his residence in DeFuniak Springs. Once they arrived, the suspect then forced himself on her and threatened that he had a gun. After the sexual assault, the suspect fled the scene. Investigation revealed that the suspect possibly fled in the vehicle that the victim had been using. The vehicle is described as a four door beige 2002 Dodge Neon with a rear spoiler. It was displaying Florida Tag # 205PII. The suspect information is being withheld until the investigation is complete.

Anyone having information related to this incident is asked to contact Detective Dees at 850-892-8513 or callers may remain anonymous using the TIPS line at 850-910-TIPS (8477).
