[ARCHIVED] DEFUNIAK SPRINGS POLICE URGE CITIZENS TO USE CAUTION THIS SUMMER

During the summer months, the heat is not the only thing rising. Thieves are also on the prowl and are looking for an unlocked vehicle near you! DeFuniak Springs Police would like to remind citizens and visitors to “Hide-Lock-Take” when it comes to securing valuables and vehicles. There have been a few reports of vehicle burglaries recently and they involved owners who left their cars unlocked. Don't become a victim. If you can’t take it with you, hide it, and always lock it up!

Additionally, with temperatures expected to reach over a 100 degrees, a vehicle is just not safe for children or pets to be left without air conditioning. Even a short time is too long during the hot summer months to leave children or pets in a vehicle with no air conditioning. Please keep your loved ones cool and safe this summer.
