Mayor Bob Campbell was joined by DeFuniak Springs City Employees in promoting awareness for ALS by taking the Ice Bucket Challenge. Assistant City Manager / Public Works Director Tilman Mears, Chief Mark Weeks, City Marshal, Lieutenant Richard Black, Executive Assistant Lacey Woodham, and Customer Service Representative Cellia Alford also took on the challenge. Mayor Campbell called out Walton County Commissioner Chairman Bill Chapman, Mayor Barley from Freeport, and Mayor Thomas from Paxton to complete the Challenge. He also remarked that this was for a good cause with all the proceeds going to Stem Cell Research for the cure of ALS before getting doused in a bucket of ice water.

The weather was hot, but the ice water was flowing as the rest of the employees took on the chill for a great cause. Candy Nowling, Director of The Matrix Community Outreach Center coordinated the event to help bring awareness and raise money to help find a cure for ALS. Nowling brought ice and buckets to City Hall to administer the challenge. Woodham and Alford both were doused with not one, but two buckets of ice cold water!
Sometimes one bucket is just not good enough!

This challenge has been going viral on YouTube and the hope is that more people will get in on the challenge to prevent and cure ALS.
