[ARCHIVED] DEFUNIAK SPRINGS POLICE INVESTIGATE SHOOTING

Officers with the DeFuniak Springs Police responded to Will Kelly Avenue in reference to gunshots on Wednesday, October 1st at approximately 5:30 PM. The caller reported hearing multiple gunshots fired in the area, but was unsure if anyone was hurt. Initial reports were that 28 year old Julius Brown, of DeFuniak Springs, had accidentally shot himself during an argument. Upon further investigation and further witness accounts, it was determined that another male subject had shot Brown.

Brown was taken to Healthmark Regional Medical Center by a companion. He was treated for two gunshot wounds to his legs and later released. The investigation is continuing.
