[ARCHIVED] Rape Suspect Arrested in DeFuniak Springs

The DeFuniak Springs Police have arrested Timothy Lydell Bell DOB 10/24/92, on charges of Sexual Battery and Felony Battery by Strangulation. The arrest comes after an all night investigation into an incident that was originally reported to the Walton County Sheriff’s Office on late Thursday afternoon, January 6th 2011.

At approximately 7:30pm on Thursday night, Detectives from the DeFuniak Springs Police responded to a report of a sexual battery that occurred on the grounds of the Wee Care Park (Walton Road) in DeFuniak Springs, across from the Walton High School. During the course of the investigation, detectives collected physical and trace evidence and conducted interviews with the victim (Juvenile – Name Not Released).

The suspect, Timothy Lydell Bell, was located and interviewed by the detectives on Friday morning. Bell was then taken into custody and transported to the Walton County Jail, where he waits for first appearance before a judge on Saturday morning.

This investigation is on-going and no additional information is available at this time.
