Officers with the DeFuniak Springs Police responded to Perdue Farms, located on U.S. Hwy 90 West, at approximately 9AM on Thursday morning in reference to a man that was shot. The reporting witness advised that the man, identified as Ken Price, had accidentally shot himself. Upon arrival, Price was found on the floor in his office with a single gunshot wound to his knee. Price advised Officers that he was attempting to unload his 9mm semi-automatic pistol while sitting at his desk when the round went off. Price’s co-worker stated she heard a loud bang, but did not know what happened until Price yelled for her.

DeFuniak Springs Fire and Walton Fire Rescue EMS responded. Price was transported to North Okaloosa Medical Center. Chief Weeks said “It is not every day that we have a shooting in DeFuniak Springs. Although Mr. Price’s injury is concerning, I’m thankful that it was accidental and not more serious.”
