[ARCHIVED] DEFUNIAK SPRINGS POLICE GET A BARGAIN ON PARKING LOT

Extra asphalt from another project allowed the DeFuniak Springs Police Department to have their badly damaged parking lot to be resurfaced. Assistant City Manager Tilman Mears was able to coordinate the repair and at a minimal cost. In fact the actual cost is around $1500 versus previous estimates of $15,000. Chief Mark Weeks credits Mears and two contractors for helping the Police Department and ultimately the community we serve. Chief Weeks said that the parking lot was in such bad shape and was a hazard to Citizens. Although nothing in life is free, this parking lot repair was pretty close to it.

Larry Bell of Bell Construction and associate company, Bullard Excavating volunteered their services after completing work on the new Tesla Reenergizing Stations. The left over asphalt was enough to complete a third of the parking lot. Two loads of asphalt were then purchased to complete the rest. Bell Construction and Bullard Excavating donated the labor. Chief Weeks said that this was a big win for the Citizens we serve.
