A picture tells a thousand words, and video even more. This is especially true for one would be robber and burglar. Several citizens contacted the DeFuniak Springs Police to say they knew the man in the video and photos that committed crimes recently. The man was identified as 28 year old Bobby Lee Chaney of DeFuniak Springs. Another citizen called mid-morning Saturday and gave the location where Chaney could be found. DeFuniak Springs Police Officers found Chaney and requested he go to the Police Department for questioning. Chaney agreed and confessed to the Attempted Robbery outside of That Pizza Place. He also admitted to burglarizing Thriftway Supermarket and H&M Hotdog Stand.
Chaney, who is also on probation for Grand Theft Auto, was arrested and taken to the Walton County Jail. He is being charged with Attempted Robbery, (2) counts of Burglary, (2) counts of Criminal Mischief, and Petit Theft. Chief Mark Weeks said “I am thankful for the assistance of our citizens in bringing this man to justice. Our citizens and business owners will hopefully be able to sleep a little easier tonight with this suspect in custody.”
