[ARCHIVED] DeFuniak Springs Police make arrest for Armed Robbery

On June 6, 2015, the DeFuniak Springs Police received a report of an armed robbery that occurred early Saturday morning at Spring East Apartments located on N. Davis Lane. The victim advised police that he had given the suspect, later identified as Kendrick Lamar Shepherd, a ride and dropped him off at Spring East Apartments. The victim stated that while he was sitting in his vehicle in the parking lot of the apartment complex, Shepherd produced a pistol and demanded his money. The victim gave Shepherd his money then backed out of the parking lot at a high rate of speed as Shepherd chased after him with the pistol. Police later received information that Shepherd threw the pistol in a wooded area behind the apartments. The pistol and a holster were recovered. The pistol was identified to be a BB pistol. A witness identified Shepherd as the person that chased after the victim's truck with a pistol then threw the pistol in the woods. Shepherd was arrested for armed robbery and transported to the Walton County Jail.
