DeFuniak Springs Police were called to Healthmark Regional Medical Center at approximately 12:45 PM today for a 66 year old DeFuniak Springs man with a gunshot wound. The man was reportedly showing off his .22 caliber rim-fire pistol to a fellow customer at a local gun dealer. When he went to holster the small frame pistol, the hammer snagged on the holster. The pistol owner tried to free it, but the gun fired, striking him in the right leg. The small bullet lodged in his thigh and he reportedly could feel the bullet on the surface of his skin. The man then drove to Healthmark Regional Medical Center where he is still being treated. He is expected to be released today. Although the investigation is on-going, no charges are expected.
